6 Tips To Keep Your Summer Tan From Fading

One of the BEST parts about summer is finally getting that golden, sun-kissed tan you've been dreaming about all year. Don't let it fade, Babe!

Keep scrolling for a few quick tips that'll help make sure your melanin stays extra poppin'.

1. Wear Sunscreen

Not only is wearing sunscreen daily important for the overall health of your skin, but lathering it on before you hit the beach (and every few hours once you get there) will prevent sunburn. Sunburn often causes peeling skin — which is the opposite of what you want to happen if you're trying to achieve peak glow status.

2. Take Cooler Showers

Rinsing off the day in scorching hot water can easily dry your skin out and lead to a flaky tan. So, don't forget to turn down the temp!

3. Exfoliate

While flaking and peeling isn't ideal, too many dead cells just sitting at your skin's surface isn't that great either. Some experts say exfoliating often (and gently) is an age-old trick that'll ensure your tan stays polished and pretty.

4. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Preventing ashy skin by lathering on your favorite lotion, cream or body butter is CRUCIAL to lock in your skin's essential oils year-round — but especially during tanning season.

5. Drink More Water

Drinking lots of water keeps your skin — the body's largest organ — happy, healthy and hydrated. Happy, healthy and hydrated skin = a gorgeous tan.
