Hey babes! So much magic happened during New York Fashion Week and we managed to get time to have award winning Make Up Artist, Jaime Criel, school us on amazing lipstick trends last week for #NYFW. Jaime's work has been seen across New York Fashion Week for Reem Acra, J. Mendel, Kate Spade, Milly, Lela Rose, Parsons, Alice and Olivia, Phillip Lim, Claire Pettibone, Clover Canyon, Korto Momolu, Cinq a Sept, and more. Here's what this lovely Bawse Lady, had to say.
On In Demand makeup lewks/lipstick lewks :
This season we’re seeing makeup artists break away from the no-makeup makeup look we’ve been seeing in seasons past. Bright colors were seen at Jeremy Scott, Adam Selman, Anna Sui, Brandon Maxwell, Sies Marjan, Area, Noon by Noor, and PH5.
The Comeback Lippie:
I’m so excited to see bright and bold lips! From oranges to reds to burgundies, women looked so polished and confident in statement-making lipsticks. It really brings a look together.
Most Poppin' Lippie:
Makeup Artist Tom Pecheux absolutely killed it at Brandon Maxwell this season. The look was a deliciously rich red lipstick which he lined with a thread of golden pigment along the upper lip line. Stunning!
Lippie cheats during Model prep:
The models are doing multiple looks a day with makeup being applied and taken off constantly so their lips get really dried and chapped. I love to use a bit of glycolic acid (toner) to sweep away any dead skin. Then I apply a generous amount of lip balm to the lips and let it sit while I do the complexion. Once the lips are nice and hydrated, I gently wipe away the lip balm and the lips are soft and prepped for lipstick!
Want a fresh off the runway look? Here's How:
A great way to wear a bold lip for an everyday look is to apply with your finger! Rub the lipstick with your ring ringer and pat the color directly onto your lips. This gives the color a bit of softness and gives the lips a more stained and effortless look. Use the excess lipstick on your finger for your blush!
Jaime's Lipstick Hacks:
To make your lipstick stay all day, line the entire mouth, not just the lip line. Once you’ve lined the outer edges, gently fill your lips in with the lip liner completely. Apply lipstick on top and you’ve got all-day wear.
Jaime's worked for 12 seasons at Fashion Week and just moved to Sydney, Australia to continue her career. For more of her journey follow her on instagram @jaimecriel!
